JOWAI: Two juveniles – both girls – managed to escape from the juvenile home in Shillong on Sunday morning only to be re-arrested in West Jaintia Hills on the same evening.

Sources informed that one of the girls, hailing from West Jaintia Hills, was allegedly involved in a murder case at Kyndong Tuber. She was arrested on March 26 from Shillong. The other girl hails from east Khasi Hills.

It may be mentioned here that West Jaintia Hills police had arrested five of the six accused – three males and two females – for allegedly murdering two coal traders, Wit Latam and Troman Tangliang, in January last.

Since one of the arrested girls had claimed to be a minor, the court had sent her to the juvenile home in Shillong without ascertaining her actual age.
