U19 cricket: Jail Road Boys, Garo Union win

SHILLONG: Jail Road Boys Higher Secondary School defeated St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School by seven wickets in a league match of the 5th Babu Ondromoni Dkhar Memorial (Under-19) Inter School Cricket Tournament 2013, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association on Monday at the Cricket Grounds, Polo.

In the other match on the day, Garo Union Secondary School defeated The Shillong Secondary School by six wickets.

In the first contest, St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School won the toss and elected to bat first.

They were, however, dismissed for the rather disappointing total of 72 runs, made in 20.3 overs.

Naseeb Roy shone for the fielding team, taking three wickets for 11 runs in his five overs.

In reply, Jail Road Boys Higher Secondary School polished off the chase with little trouble, finishing on 73-3 in 15 overs. Bona Myr-thong scored 26 off 29 balls.

In the second match, Garo Union Secondary School won the toss and elected to field first.

The Shillong Secondary School were dismissed for 110 in 22.1 overs.

Lakhan Das made 28 off 31 balls while Tengrang took 2-9.

In reply, Garo Union Secondary School chased the total down in 16.5 overs, losing four wickets.

Luther scored 37 runs off 58 balls while Lakhan Das took 2-17.

In the next matches, Buddha Vidya Niketan Secondary School will face BK Bajoria HS School, while St Edmund’s Secondary will go up against RK Mission HS School.
