TURA: The Tura Cheran Mahari Association issued a clarification on Wednesday condemning the heinous rape of a minor maid by Edmund Ch Momin, and pledging not to protect or defend anyone who has gone against the law.

The Association also denied any hand in trying to hamper the course of justice.

“The statement where the Mahari is accused of trying to pressurize the District Child Protection Officer of Tura to withdraw the case is not true and we are not attempting to protect the culprit in any way,” stated the Cheran Mahari Association. The Association further asserted that Edmund Ch Momin is not even a registered member of the Association and they condemn the inhuman act of the accused.

Also quoting the statements given by the District Administration and the District Child Protection Officer, Tura, the Association urged the respective authorities to give a clarification as to which Mahari was trying to interfere in the action that is being taken as per law against the accused.
