TURA: Refuting the recent allegations made by the commander-in-chief of the United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA), Norrok X Momin, chairman of ANVC-B, Rimpu Marak said whatever agreements were made were in the best interest of the people and the region.

“It is because of this agreement that peace could be restored and today every A’chik can see it,” Rimpu Marak said while adding that it was the peace agreement that had made possible the acquiring of bail for Norrok and his comrades.

Norrok, whose real name is Singbirth N Marak, had accused the ANVC-B leadership headed by Rimpu N Marak and military chief Mukosh Marak of aligning with the Rabha Hasong leadership in Assam to merge the Garo inhabited areas into the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council against the wishes of the people.

With a slight indication of disappointment over trying to protect Norrok,

Rimpu Marak said, “Regardless of Norrok’s actions against the ANVC-B, it had never abandoned him and provided him protection. However, Norrok has disregarded it and because of him three members of the outfit were recently shot dead at Dobu.”

“Till today we have not abandoned Norrok but he has resisted our good intention of protecting him and his comrades. I have tried my best to include him in the peace process,” Rimpu said while adding that in future the ANVC-B will have nothing to do with Norrok and that as the UALA commander-in-chief, he should cut-off any strings that tie him to the ANVC-B.

Raising suspicions of a possible double game, the commander-in-chief of UALA, Norrok X Marak has issued various statements against the ANVC-B to the media but according to Rimpu Marak, Norrok is still in touch with the ANVC-B and pledges his allegiance to the outfit.

The ANVC-B chairman also informed that Norrok had deceived several of the ANVC-B cadres into following him by lying to them that he (Rimpu Marak) had given out an order for their execution.
