SHILLONG: Border Security Force Meghalaya Frontier Sudesh Kumar has asked the border population to come forward with their valuable ideas which can be implemented for better border management and also for betterment of the living standard of border population.
Speaking at the Civic Action Programmes organised by BSF in the border area of Mahenderganj and Purakhasia on Saturday, Sudesh Kumar even urged the border population to share information about any strangers, smugglers and militants visiting their village.
During the programme, BSF distributed various items like Powers tillers, Syntax tanks, Sports items and other items worth Rs 5 Lakh.
According to Kumar, Special Recruitment drive for recruitment in BSF will be undertaken all over Meghalaya. “In order to prepare candidates for recruitment, BSF will conduct pre-recruitment training at Mahenderganj and Dalu for preparing the youths in physical efficiency test as well as in the written examination. It may be mentioned that the Civic Action programme are being conducted as a central plan to improve the quality of life and welfare of the border population, upgrade the existing infrastructure and create new avenues for bringing positive changes in the life of the border population.
Two medical camps were also organised by the BSF at Mahenderganj and Purakhasia where free medical check-up and medicines worth Rs 50,000/- each were distributed to about 500 people of bordering areas by the 6 senior medical officers of BSF on the occasion.
