World Red Cross Day

The Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya in collaboration with Nethralaya and Dr Linda Marbaniang will hold a free eye and dental check up camp at Red Cross Hospital on May 3 on the occasion of World Red Cross Day.

Inauguration

Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma will inaugurate Meghalaya State Fisheries Research & Training institute at Mawpun, Ri Bhoi on May 2 at 11 am.

Training

The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides conducted advance training for the scout masters and guide captains in the month of April. During the seven-day training programme, disaster management, rope work, and community development awareness were instructed to the participants.

Blood donation camp

The Meghalaya Aids Control Society and State Blood Transfusion Council in collaboration with National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and the regional blood bank Pasteur Institute will organise an awareness and voluntary blood donation camp on May 1 at the NIFT campus.

Workshop

The Meghalaya Helath Insurance Scheme state level workshop will be held at Hotel Polo Towers in the city on May 1. Additional Secretary cum Director General Labour Welfare, Government of India Anil Swarup will be the chief guest on the occasion.

Headman elected

The Dorbar Shnong of Bishnupur Kench’s Trace has elected S Swett as the new Rangbah Shnong of the locality and a sanad to this effect has been granted by Syiem of Mylliem.

Office bearers

The General Council of the Meghalaya Peoples Human Rights Council (MPHRC) held on April 30 elected new office bearers for the year 2013-2017. Dino D. G. Dympep was elected as the chairman, N. John Nongrem, vice chairman, S. Shemborlang Rynjah, secretary general , Pynskhem Syiemlieh, information and public relation secretary besides others.
