‘Govt to focus on youth activities’

 SHILLONG: The Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Zenith Sangma on Friday asserted that the State Government is trying to undertaking various activities for the youths to save them from anti social elements.

Speaking to reporters here in the city, Zenith Sangma said, “The intention of the Government is to focus on youth activities so that they are not mis-carried by anti social elements.

It may be mentioned that the youths of the State are often lured by militants for their own self interests and in the past there were instances when the militant outfits were trying to recruit youths of the State.

He stated that the Government had dedicated last year as the year of the youth with an intention of engaging youths in various activities which will go a long way in benefiting the State.

While fearing that the potential youths may be miscarried by anti social elements, the Minister informed that for this reason the Government came out with the career guide counselling programme for youths.

Under this programme, the youths will be provided training and coaching for their various board exams.
