Toppers speak

 SHILLONG: “Work on your strengths” was HSSLC, Science topper Prityush Haldar’s message to fellow students while Commerce topper Arunava Kar Purkayastha stressed that there was no substitute to hard work.

Haldar, who wants to pursue a medical course, secured distinctions in English, Alternative English, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology.

Expressing his joy and excitement, the Science topper extended gratitude to his teachers, parents for being his inspiration and his principal for leading the way.

“I am overwhelmed and I never expected such good results”, Haldar, son of Debabrata and Suravi Haldar, said.

Commerce topper, Arunava Kar Purkayastha who secured distinction in English, Alternative English, Mathematics, Economics, Accountancy and Business Studies expressed joy at the turn of events.

While attributing his success to God, his parents and teachers Arunava said, “Even though, my papers were good, I never expected to secure the first position.”

He is the son of Anjan

and Meenakshi Kar Purkayastha.

Meanwhile, Principal of St Anthony’s Hr Sec School, Fr Bernard G Pala attributed the success to the students and teachers of the school. St Anthony’s secured eight positions in the Science stream and three in the Commerce stream.

“This indicates that the hard work of the teachers and students has been rewarded and the teachers are thrilled with the results”, Fr Pala said while asserting that the school will continue to maintain this consistency in the years to come.

When asked about the factors which contributed to this success, Fr Pala said that motivation plays a major role.
