SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal on Wednesday clarified that Panchayat Raj institutions do not function in the State.
He clarified the fact to the FKJGP delegation which met the Deputy Commissioner here.
Earlier, the KSU and the FKJGP demanded immediate action on the part of the district administration against the illegally formed Panchayati Raj institutions in the sixth schedule areas and had served a two-week deadline to the institutions to surrender their documents.
