SHILLONG: The vexed dispute between some residents and tenants of Lapalang was finally resolved by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal on Wednesday.

Earlier, some tenants of the area had obstructed the construction of a internal road which was taken up in the locality by a lady, Anamika Mylliemumlong to connect her land.

During the meeting, both the parties amicably decided to solve the matter for the greater interest of the locality.

The Rangbah Dong of Lapalang Parmaw L Wahlang after the meeting told reporters that the Deputy Commissioner has warned the Gorkha Panchayat Association not to interfere in locality matters or else they will be booked as per law.

The residents also said that the matter was resolved when the alignment of the proposed road was re-designed to go through areas not affecting the houses of the complainants.
