IMPHAL: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the killing of Seitinlal Kipgen and Tongkhosal Haokip has announced on Thursday that it will launch indefinite Manipur if the state government does not produce the culprits involved in the murder of the two Kukis.

The JAC while addressing the media said that it will wait till 4 pm on Friday and “if the culprits are not booked by that time, we will start immediately the state-wide bandh.”

The JAC claims that several organisations including the Kuki Students Organisation (KSO) have assured to support the bandh.

Two persons who had gone missing since April 29 were found dead at Kamu Ching, a hillock near Nongpok Sekmai under Yairipok Police Station in Imphal East district early hours Wednesday. The corpses were highly decomposed.

Seitinlal Kipgen, 50, hailed from Bongbal Khullen in Saikul sub-division in Sadar Hills, Senapati district and Tongkhosal Haokip, 35, a native of Masenjang village in Churachandpur district had been reportedly kidnapped by unidentified persons from Nongpok Keithelmanbi near Kamu Ching on April 29 around 8 am and since then their whereabouts remained unknown.

Some locals spotted the highly decomposed bodies on the top of the small hill around 7 am on Wednesday. The police are still clueless about the nature of the dead. But they have started probing it.

Their bodies had been found amidst protest by several civil society organizations demanding their safe release. (NNN)
