SHILLONG: Police are yet to make any arrest in the Malki rape case as the girl is still undergoing treatment NEIGRIHMS.

“As of now, we have no clue of the culprits who committed the crime since the girl is still hospitalized and not in a position to say something. We would wait till she fully recovers to record her statement”, a senior police official said here on Saturday.

It was on Wednesday when a seven-year-old minor was raped by two unidentified persons while she was returning from school in a jungle at Malki.

Police said that it would be difficult for them to track down the accused involved in the crime until they know the details of the case. Meanwhile, the Meghalaya State Women’s Commission on Saturday had condemned this barbaric act against a minor girl stating that such acts will not be tolerated while urging the police to make endless efforts to catch the culprits involved in this heinous act and punish them as per law.

In yet another rape of a minor, one 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by Starlinson Kharjana (28) on May 4 at around 8pm at Kyrding village in Ri Bhoi district.

Following the FIR filed by the victim’s mother at Umiam PS recently, police swung into action and arrested the accused.
