SHILLONG: The Rose Valley Hotels and Entertainment Ltd. (RVHEL) operating in the Thana Road area here has assured the investors that there is no need to panic following the recent reports of closure of branches in Tripura and Khliehrihat in Jaintia Hills.

Clarifying the company’s stand the branch manager of RVHEL, Mridul Das said that the Khliehrihat branch in Jaintia Hills has been merged with the Jowai office and the same was notified through public notices in various local dailies of the State whereas in Tripura the branches were closed after the SDM filed a false complaint against RVHEL. “But the SDM is arrested now and all our branches there have been reopened there,” Das added.

Stating that the company is here to stay, Das said many of its customers have even received the maturity amounts and this shows the intention of RVHEL which is ready to cooperate with the people and the authorities if the need arises.

The company has over 1000 customers in the State, many of whom are going for premature withdrawal of their investments in the company in the aftermath of the Saradha chit fund scam. The same was confirmed by the branch manager who informed that so far around 200 customers have opted for premature closure of their investments.

Even as several customers complained that the company is planning to deduct 10-25 percent of the total amount in case of premature closure, the RVHEL official claimed otherwise.

“We are not deducting any amount for such closures which takes at least a month’s time. There are two types of investment – monthly installment and onetime payment. The onetime payment will incur a 5 per cent deduction only if premature closure takes place in less than two years,” Das clarified while adding that there is no deduction for the monthly installment.

Das informed that RVHEL, a diversified group having its presence in media, film production, garments etc., has around 900 branches with 5000 employees across the country and people’s investments are safe with the company.

On the recent allegations by the Meghalaya Joint Council of Trade Unions and Associations (MJCTUA) general secretary JL Das that RVHEL is a chit fund company and the state government should initiate action against it, Das said that the MJCTUA’s views are its own but the RVHEL is open to any type of investigation as such actions in the past could has always resulted in ‘clean chit’ for the company.
