SHILLONG: Top teams from the five north eastern states will battle it out for the winner’s slot of the Aircel-Lajong Five A Side Campus Football Tournament at the JN Stadium here on Saturday.
SAI from Meghalaya, ASL from Manipur, Ramhlum Venglai FC from Mizoram, Adroit Boys from Nagaland and Barpeta Town Club from Assam will compete for top honours and a cash prize if Rs 2 lakh in what would be a befitting end to the five-a-side football tourney.
The teams will be pitted against each other in a league format and the top two teams will qualify for the final.
Top five players from among the teams will also get to train with Shillogn Lajong FC for a week and the best among them will also be awarded with the ‘Aircel Star of Lajong’.
The first match has been tentatively scheduled to kick-off at 9:00am. To add to the entertainment, the football fiesta on Saturday will also feature DJ Neo from Shillong.
The event has been kept free and open to the public.
