JOWAI: A 29-year-old man identified as Banjop Suiam of Narwan Village was badly assaulted, allegedly by four Policemen from Ladrymbai Police Outpost on Sunday night.

He was travelling on his own vehicle, Maruti Alto MLO5F-9184 and on reaching at Ladrymbai Datsiempein (Petrol Pump), four police men came and started questioning him regarding the tints in his car window.

“They approached and asked me to remove the dark film and when I was trying to remove the dark film, they asked me to stop and forced me to go to the Thana”, said Suiam adding that they wanted to drive my vehicle.

“They asked me if they could drive my vehicle and I rejected. They entered inside and asked me to drive to the Thana but half way, one of the cops asked his friend to fire”, he said adding that he became nervous and as he drove nearby, they beat him up. “My family members have approached the In charge, Ladrymbai Outpost and also the Officer In Charge Khliehriat PS to lodge a verbal complaint but they failed to accept it and instead they asked us to come the next day with a motive to seek compromise between the erring Police men and the victim.

“The team of police personnel was led by one Monoj Basumatary”, a source said.

The victim also alleged that the police personnel looted him Rs. 10, 000.
