SHILLONG: The Greater Laban Community Development Society (GLCDS) has alleged that there is fresh encroachment by the defence authorities at the Madan Laban – Lawsohtun Road near the sericulture farm area.

“The Defence Authority has recently wrongfully erected sign boards around the area stating that the land belongs to them,” GLCDS president R K Dutta said.

“As far as the knowledge of the elders of the area goes… the right hand side of the PWD road going towards Lawsohtun, which is already fenced, belongs to the army while the area on the left hand side belongs to the Forest department. However, recently sign boards were put up on the left hand side of the road,” Dutta said.

The GLCDS also urged the Deputy Commissioner’s Court to deliver justice related to the plot no 46 and 47 at Kench’s Trace as soon as possible.
