New Delhi: The last report card of the ruling UPA-II Government released by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Mrs Sonia Gandhi claimed both peace and progress for the Northeastern region.

Peace talks with the NSCN-IM are on the right track as is the case with other militant outfits, the Prime Minister said in his opening speech.

Sonia claimed that the Government had initiated special steps for the region for its socio economic progress.

Among others, both Congress MPs from Meghalaya – Vincent H Pala and Wansuk Syiem – attended the function at the Prime Minister’s residence.

Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, however, could not attend as he was indisposed.
