SHILLONG: ANVC chairman Rimpu Marak on Friday denied that there is any new recruitment going on in the ANVC (B) even as he maintained that there are no minor cadres with the outfit.

“We have no minor cadres. No new recruitment is going on in the ANVC (B) camp. We have been waiting for the official procedure for the final peace settlement, but nothing seems to be taking place,” Marak said in a statement issued on Friday.

According to Marak, his cadres are committed to the peace settlement, but the way the media and some NGOs are highlighting the allegations of UALS chief Norrok ‘makes us feel that we are targeted by vested interests’.

While condemning the attack of innocent coal labourers by UALA militants, Marak said that Norrok had wanted to show his power by killing innocent people, and his reign of terror was turning Garo Hills into hell.
