SHILLONG: Meghalaya Community and Development minister, Prestone Tynsong on Saturday laid down the foundation stone of the DRDA building adjacent to the East Khasi Hills district Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The building which is G+ 3 structure with Rs 78 lakh plus fund allocation is expected to be completed within this financial year.
Addressing the gathering, Tynsong said that the construction of this office is one of the government’s initiatives to bring positive change takes place and see that the lifestyle, income generation grows and improve from one year to another. “The government is committed to meet the aspirations of the rural people,” he said while urging the officers and staffs of the DRDA to make sure that the building is a place for the rural lot.
Mentioning about the relevance of having this branch of the department, Principal Secretary of C&RD, KN Kumar observed that as the infrastructural growth was not in proportion with the growth of workforce, therefore, “The building is much required by the department.”
He further stated that with time, DRDA activities have expanded but the infrastructure has not expanded and is not it proportion with it. Stressing on co corporate culture, Kumar said good officers are produced following good work culture, and this culture needs to be brought in for better work performance.
