Shillong: Union Minister for Rural Development, Jairam Ramesh, on Monday assured Community and Rural Development Minister Prestone Tynsong that the Centre will clear Rs 109 crore to Meghalaya under MGNREGS which was held back last year.

Tynsong met Ramesh here and impressed upon him to release the fund. The funds were withheld only on some technical grounds which were later clarified to the Ministry, Tynsong said.

“We would be able to clear the pending dues under the Scheme once the funds are release by the Ministry,” Tynsong informed from Delhi.

The Minister also informed that many projects under the Scheme have come to a standstill due to paucity of funds.
