SHILLONG: Association of Qualified Grade-IV, East Khasi Hills district president T Mylliempdah said that they are disappointed with the pace at which the District Selection Committee (DSC) is issuing the appointments to the vacant posts.

Stating that two weeks have already passed since the Government extended the period of merit list for another six months, Mylliempdah said that so far not even a single appointment has been issued.

“We would like to appeal to the DSC to at least speed up the process for the benefit of the candidates,” Mylliempdah told reporters here on Thursday.

He also informed that the Association had also gone to various Government departments to follow up on the RTI findings which revealed that they are 200 plus Grade IV posts lying vacant in different district offices under East Khasi Hills which are filled under temporary and officiating basis.

“It is really sad that many of the departments are trying to defend those candidates who are appointed on adhoc and temporary basis,” the Association president said. He alleged that the Joint Director of Health Services in Shillong Civil Hospital out rightly rejected their request to remove all the temporary appointments so that the successful candidates in the merit list could be absorbed.
