SHILLONG: Pressure is mounting on Chief Secretary WMS Pariat to take action against LN Jyrwa, the Mission Director, State Resource Centre for Women, and Director of Social Welfare, H Shangpliang, based on the May 27 order of the High Court of Meghalaya.

The High Court had quashed the appointment of LN Jyrwa as Mission Director of State Resource Centre for Women and cited the malafide and biased role of Director Social Welfare, Shangpliang, based on the petition filed by Angela Rangad.

Armed with the order of the court, the petitioner on Friday asked Chief Secretary WMS Pariat to take action against these erring officials.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Rangad said that it is necessary to give effect to the judgment of the High Court. Moreover, the illegal action by the officers concerned should also be noted and entered in their service records and annual confidential reports (ACRs), she said.

Rangad reminded that she had lodged a formal complaint to the Chief Secretary on the same matter in August last year and wanted the action taken report on the complaint.

“I also wish to be intimated about the action taken on my present letter to you regarding action on the court judgement as well as action taken on the officers named, within a week,” Rangad said.

According to Rangad, since it is of public interest, action should be carried out expeditiously and urgently and that public funds utilized for payment of salary and expenses of the Mission Director for many months should be recovered considering that the Government had to spend on unnecessary litigation.

Rangad also asked the Chief Secretary to examine the likelihood of LN Jyrwa drawing both her full salary from the Project and her full pension from the Department of Social Welfare since September 2012 till date and also to ensure strict legal and administrative action against her.
