One arrested, shotgun seized

 JOWAI: Jowai police arrested one Borlang Lytep armed with a loaded shotgun from Iawmusiang area here on Saturday.

The West Jaintia Hills SP, H. Lyngdoh said that Lytep, who hails from Muriap, Thadialong village, was arrested from inside a tourist Tata Sumo (ML0A-4600) parked near Thomas Jone Synod College, Iawmusiang at around 11:40 am. “Basing on a tip off a special party of the Jowai Police nabbed the person and seized a shotgun and three black woolen mufflers from his possession”, the SP said, adding, “the shotgun is a modified SBBL with barrel sawed off and loaded with one live cartridge”.

The SP informed that police suspect that the arrested person might have been planning a crime since the black mufflers can be used as a mask. “A case has been registered and we are interrogating”, the SP informed.
