SSLC and HSSLC toppers felicitated

TURA: The West Garo Hills Officer’s Club on Friday felicitated fourteen SSLC and one HSSLC topper from the district at an elaborate function organized at the Social Mobilization, Experimentation and Learning Centre at Dakopgre here.

President of the West Garo Hills Officer’s Club and Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi commending the toppers stated that it was imperative that parents and teachers continuously guide their wards lest they fall prey to unwanted influence. Dwelling on the importance of freedom of choice Bakshi urged the toppers to tread carefully while choosing their careers and cautioned the toppers not to be influenced by peer pressure.

On behalf of the Officer’s Club, Bakshi later felicitated the toppers with a cash award of Rs 5000/- accompanied by a certificate and a bouquet. Bakshi also released a book titled “The Secrets of High Achievers” authored by Fr John Parankimalil.

Highlighting the absence of coaching institutions for administrative services in the region Tura Don Bosco College Principal Fr John Parankimalil (Fr Johny) urged the Officer’s Club to decide and work on the matter with the Salesion Fathers. Fr Johny commended the toppers and thanked the parents and teachers who played a vital role in their success. “Some of the best schools in the state are in Tura”, he stated and talked of his experiences as an educator.
