New Delhi: The Congress-led MUA II Government in Meghalaya has decided to implement the Prime Minister’s Results Framework Document (RFD) to improve the efficiency of government departments and the State’s overall performance.

A presentation on the scheme was made by the Union Cabinet Secretary before the Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma, at Meghalaya House here.

Following the presentation, Dr Sangma said that the government is committed to good governance and its endeavour has always been to address the unfulfilled expectations of citizens.

As a follow up action, a workshop on the RFD will be organised in Shillong from June 11-12, official sources told The Shillong Times on Sunday. The two-day workshop targeted at senior officials and heads of various departments will be conducted by the Performance Management Division of the Cabinet Secretariat in collaboration with the State Government.

The scheme will be implemented from 2013-2014 to evaluate and assess the performance of government departments.

Dr Prajapati Trivedi, Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat and a renowned economist, made the presentation before Dr Sangma.

RFD was introduced by the Union Government during 2009-2010 and 79 departments are implementing it currently. The focus of the scheme is on a result driven government machinery that delivers on its promises.

“To be a learning and knowledge sharing organization that continuously strives to improve the functioning of government machinery and make it an example of international best practice is the mission of this programme,” Dr Trivedi said.
