Dorbar Shnong, JSU demand arrest of VEC secretary

 JOWAI: The Murap Dorbar Shnong and the Jaintia Students’ Union have demanded immediate arrest of the village employment council (VEC) secretary for misappropriation of funds under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS). The Dorbar Shnong and the JSU alleged that the VEC Secretary, Jowel Ryngkhlem, has misappropriated the funds meant for construction of two wells, a footpath and a motor able road in the village. The Block Development Officer (BDO), Thadlaskein C&RD Block had issued the works valued more Rs 2 lakh. Both the Dorbar Shnong and the JSU urged the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, to look into the matter.
