SHILLONG: The KSU South West Khasi Hills District (SWKHD) has threatened to hold a two-day office picketing if the Government failed to repair the road from Ranikor to Maheshkola within a week’s time.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday, KSU SWKHD general secretary Robert Kharjahrin said that they are likely to hold the office picketing on June 11 and 12 in three Community and Rural Development Block (Mawkyrwat, Ranikor and Mawsynram). After the two-day picketing, he said that they would be holding a public rally at Nongjri market on June 15.
“We have been forced to take these drastic steps since the Government has remained adamant,” Kharjahrin said.
The KSU leader informed that a total number of 50 villages are dependent on this road.
Informing that earlier the vehicle fare from Shillong to Nongjri would be Rs 350 per passenger, the KSU leader also informed that the villagers are forced to pay Rs 700 per passenger due to the pathetic condition of the road.
