SHILLONG: The Court of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills has referred the possession of a property (patta/settlement) of plot number 249 at RR Colony,Shillong by the lawyer, Ranabir Choudhury to the Revenue department for cancellation.

The case pertains to the petition filed by one Probashini Dutta for restoration of patta in her favour.

According to the petitioner, she had purchased the property from one Radhabenode Chaudhury and executed a power of attorney in favour of the lawyer, who, however, got the patta done in his name.

Later, the Court had issued notices to the concerned parties to prove their claims and counter claims and Ranbir had also been directed to explain his identity and his relation to Radhabenode Choudhury, but he failed to prove the same. As per the court, the case came up for final hearing on March 21 this year and the petitioner once again stressed on her claim and prayed for the cancellation of the patta issued in favour of Ranabir.

The Court after hearing the matter in its recent order asked the authority concerned for cancellation of patta.
