TURA: Slamming the recent rape of two minor sisters at Ampati by Officer-in-Charge of Ampati Police Station, Narul Islam, FKJGP, Garo Hills zone has called for a ‘shutter down’ in the entire Garo Hills on June 7 and 8 as a mark of protest against the alleged atrocities taking place in the region.

The ‘shutter down’ will be observed from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on both the days.

The Federation has also demanded the immediate arrest and sentencing of the accused.

Stating that such incidents are unacceptable, the FKJGP said the people of Garo Hills will not tolerate such atrocities, especially from a policeman.

“It is shocking that the erring cop was not arrested even after it was found out that he had raped two minor sisters,” the FKJGP stated while questioning the role of other police officials involved in the incident.

“We urge the general public of Garo Hills to understand as to why we are calling the ‘shutter down’ and join us in our protest against the atrocities being meted out to our brothers and sisters of Garo Hills,” the FKJGP said.
