SHILLONG: Paia B War Nongbri, the general secretary of the Archery Association of Meghalaya (AAM), has qualified as an international archery judge at the World Archery Seminar and Examination, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 2.

War Nongbri has now followed in the footsteps of his late father Woodword Sohliya and his sister Matsiewdor War Nongbri, who is also a current international judge and the president of the AAM.

The three members of this family are the only international judges to have emerged from the North East, said the AAM through a press release on Wednesday.

There are not more than half a dozen international judges from India and around 80 worldwide, the statement went on to say.

Junior archer selected for coaching camp

In addition to the above achievement, Sundorwell Marwein, a junior archer of the Association has been selected to be a member of the Indian Coaching Camp in the Recurve Division.

He is now undergoing training at the Army Sports Institute in Pune.

The AAM expects him to excel in the field of archery and will take necessary steps to groom the youngster.
