Double promotion delight for Wansuk

SHILLONG: The first woman from the State to conquer Mt Everest, Meghalaya Police Constable Wansuk Myrthong is all set to get a double promotion in recognition of her achievement.

“We have submitted a proposal from the police headquarters for promoting her (Wansuk) to the post of Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBN),” Additional DGP (TRG&AP), BL Buam said during a felicitation programme organized in honour of Myrthong at the 1st MLP Battalion Headquarters in Mawlai Mawiong on Thursday.

Buam also informed that the police department is contemplating a cash award for Myrthong.

Applauding Myrthong’s achievement, Additional DGP (CID) SK Jain said that the State Police is lucky to

have her in its ranks. Jain also informed that the Meghalaya Government would also felicitate Myrthong after the arrival of the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma and Home Minister Roshan Warjri from New Delhi.
