SHILLONG: Chief Secretary WMS Pariat on Saturday said that State Government is currently exploring ways and means to enroll students of the CMJ University in other universities in the State.

“The attempts of the government will come to a positive conclusion,” Pariat said, while informing that the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education has already issued a notice to all the concerned students of CMJ University to submit their documents to the office of the Directorate.

“The Government is concerned about the welfare of the students and will make all efforts to ensure that their careers are not jeopardized,” he added.

When asked whether the State Government has taken up the matter with the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Chief Secretary said, “Things are being done step by step and as far as communication with the UGC is concerned, it will follow subsequently.”

Reacting to a query on the current status of the University, Pariat said, “The law will take its own course as the matter is still under investigation.”
