SHILLONG: The State Government has decided to appeal against the decision of the High Court of Meghalaya quashing the appointment of former Director of Social Welfare department, Ms Loma Jyrwa as Mission Director of State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW).

“We are going to appeal against this decision of the court,” a senior government official informed here on Saturday, while informing that the Government is examining the judgement of the court.

Asked when the Government would make the appeal, the official said the appeal would be filed at an appropriate time.

“Normally the appeal has to be made within a period of one month after the judgment,” the official added.

The High Court, in a judgement on May 27, quashed the appointment of Ms Jyrwa following a writ petition filed by Angela Rangad and represented by HS Thangkiew, N Mozika and associates, who challenged the appointment of Ms Jyrwa, retired Government employee, as Mission Director of SRCW.
