Arunachal Govt. assures of full cooperation to Army

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Monday assured all cooperation from the state government to the Indian Army when General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Army Command, Lt. Gen. Dalbir Singh called on him.

Regarding land acquisition for army establishments in the state and procurement of environmental clearances the Chief Minister urged the Chief Secretary, who was present during the meet, to coordinate with army officers to facilitate easy processing of official matters in this regard.

The issue of land compensation rates raised by the Army Officer was discussed in length and consensus arrived to evolve a uniform mechanism to deal with it.

Lt Gen Dalbir Singh assured support of the Army in social activities for welfare of people, particularly in the border areas. He also assured to support the State Government’s urge to establish a Sainik School in the state. Various issues were discussed during the meet including coordination between the state government, the Army and hydro-power developers so that defence infrastructure and power projects do not collide due to lack of coordination, operationalization of ALGs, road connectivity, hiring of state transport buses for movement of defence personnel, activities of the Border Road Organization, etc.

Earlier in the day Lt. Gen. Dalbir Singh called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma at Raj Bhawan.

They discussed various matters including road communication, raising of more battalions of Arunachal Scouts, law and order situation in eastern districts of Changlang, Tirap and Longding and welfare programmes by the Army for the local people of Arunachal Pradesh, official sources said.

While commending the Eastern Army Command for their proactive role in taking care of the strategic requirements of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor called for of more OP Good Samaritan projects through out the state by the Army. The subject of setting up of Sainik School in the State also figured during the discussion, sources said. (UNI)
