Two prisoners escape from Assam jail
Haflong (Assam): Two prisoners belonging to a militant outfit escaped from Haflong central jail in the early hours on Tuesday. Police said the prisoners broke the tin ceiling of their cell and escaped through a hole in the fence of the gaol compound at around 2.30 AM. The duo, who belong to local underground group Dima National Liberation Front, were identified as David Kemprai alias ‘Action Dimasa’ and Bongirson Khelma, police said, adding that they were incarcerated for indulging in anti-social activities. A massive man hunt has been launched to track down the two prisoners and an inquiry is on into the incident. (PTI)
Pasighat police crack mysterious murder case
Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh police has solved the seven-month mysterious Nani Tama murder case by arresting an accused at Pasighat on Tuesday. The body of 19-year-old Tama, a native of Ziro town in Lower Subansiri district, was found buried in sand on the banks of river Siang at Raneghat in Pasighat in East Siang district on November 30 last, police said here on Tuesday.A murder case had been registered at Pasighat police station. Deserted havildar caught while extorting money
Kohima: A deserted havildar of Nagaland armed police was caught while he along with three other cadres of a militant outfit was extorting money from truck drivers along the National Highway 29 near Lalmati area in Nagaland, police said. Acting on an information, police reached the area and caught him and another while the other two fled by two-wheelers last evening, SDPO Kohima Shouka Kakheto said. Both were from underground cadres of Khole-Kitovi faction of GPRN/NSCN outfit. The havildar of 14th NAP (IR) Battalion was wanted by police as he deserted with his service AK 47, three magazine and 90 rounds and a radio set while on duty in June last year, he said. (PTI)
