SHILLONG: The breakaway faction of the ANVC has alleged that the vehicles, ML 08C 3602 and ML 08C 4247, used in the covert operation to kidnap Rimpu Marak belonged to the parent organization, ANVC.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, ANVC-B General Secretary Jakrik Wareng A Sangma said that these vehicles were also used by police on several occasions and the same was apprised to the Home Minister last month.

While suspecting the parent organisation’s involvement in the incident, the breakaway group also claimed that ANVC cadre Sasan informed police about ANVC (B) chairman’s movement.

Sasan is an ANVC cadre who was picked up by Shillong police from Hotel Grace last year.

“Sasan is infamous for running extortion drives in the Nongal area using ANVC weapons even after ceasefire and he is now in Tura, seen very often in SP office,” the statement added.
