SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma assured John F Kharshiing, Chairman of the Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya, to examine the issues of the empowerment of the Grand Council of Chiefs, as sought by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
This was stated by the Chief Minister when Kharshiing met him on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister said that there is already an extensive and in depth exercise initiated by the State and the Centre for the amendment of the present 6th Schedule of the Constitution of India which presently caters to the Autonomous District Councils.
