Kohima: The ruling Naga Peoples Front (NPF) has described as baseless, the allegation of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) against the corruption of Democratic Alliance government of Nagaland.

According to a press release, the NPF Press and Media Bureau has termed the allegations as ‘totally absurd’ and pointed out that this reflected the state of the Congress party in Nagaland.

‘A party that has been rooted in corruption and one that survived on commission should not point fingers at others,’ the release said.

It was no secret that the most corrupt regime in the history of Nagaland State was during the Congress government and that those who served under it during the years when Congress was in power are living testimonies of the Congress system which was deeply rooted in a culture of corruption and commission, it added.

“The people became so frustrated with this culture that the Congress was voted out of power, despite having 59 Members in the 60 Member Nagaland Legislative Assembly,” stated the NPF.

Shocking scams like the 2G scam, Commonwealth Games Scam, coal scam and the helicopter scam which is running into lakhs of crores of rupees are only a few examples of the scams that have shamed the image of the country, stated the NPF while adding that Congress should be the last party to be talking of corruption.

On the issue of quality control, the NPF was of the view that the Congress should have enough sense to realise that poor quality and creation of liabilities instead of assets by decades of Congress rule in Nagaland, had compelled the DAN Government to institute a Quality Control Board.

In fact, the Congress, despite ruling for decades, had failed to complete any project of significance and the DAN had the political will and drive to complete all projects of what little was initiated by them, it claimed.

The NPF stated that the Congress should be specific and come forward with legitimate facts and figures, if they want to be a constructive opposition.

“However the NPCC continues to struggle to get out of its old habit of merely firing baseless allegations against the government and its leaders without any basis or authentication and their constant barking has become unconvincing to one and all,” the NPF stated while asking the Nagaland Congress party to do some self introspection and realise that the people have totally rejected them outright.
