Implementation of Act urged

 SHILLONG: The Greater Laban Community Development Society has asked the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to implement the United-Khasi-Jaintia Hills District (Establishment of town committee) Acts 1960 and 1962.

According to Society, the section 1(2) of the act says that the it shall extend to the whole of Meghalaya excluding the autonomous districts and if the district council desires that any of the provisions of the act should apply to autonomous districts , a notification is to be issued to that effect.
