New Delhi: Delhi is a major educational hub and attracts students from all parts of the country. Students from the northeast also prefer Delhi for higher education.

Several students from the northeast, like every year, have applied for admissions to various Delhi University colleges this year too.

Many students from the Northeast come to Delhi every year in pursuit of higher education.

“I want to give competitive exams, like civil services that is why I came here to study,” said Lovejoy Rongmei, student from Manipur.

However, with the gradual decline of militancy in the region, students are hopeful that the education sector in Northeast will reach new heights in the coming years.

“When compared to the institutions in Delhi, the ones in Manipur lag behind, but they will surely reach that level soon. It”s improving day by day, year by year,” added Jharimei Neilathvi, another student from Manipur.

Various student organizations are helping the applicants in filling up forms, choosing colleges, finding accommodation and completing other basic formalities.

The Naga Students Union is one such organization which looks after the welfare of students from the Northeast and guides them through the admission process.

Moreover, they help them connect with the members of their community, who already live in the national capital. They also make sure that the new students don”t face any problems.

“We feel that we are the ambassadors of the people back home. We promote our culture and also take care of the students. Most of them are students or working people whose parents are far away. So, we are the ones who take care of all kind of issues,” said J Maivio, Vice President, Naga Students Union, Delhi

“We gather information before the admission starts and when they come here to fill up the forms, we help them. There are better educational institutions and better job opportunities here. So, students from Northeast prefer to come here,” Sayine Osah, a volunteer.

Delhi provides the young and talented youth of the Northeast the right opportunities to realize their dreams. (ANI)
