JOWAI: Amlarem Police on Wednesday arrested an engineer of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) posted at Leshka Hydel Project Michael Pohshna for allegedly threatening a medical practitioner.

The SP, West Jaintia Hills informed that the arrest was made on the basis of a complaint lodged by Dr Hamar Bathew Buam, in-charge of Pdeinchakap PHC.

Dr Buam alleged that Pohshna came to the his quarter and threatened him and also broke the window pane.

“He has illegally trespassed and broke the glasses of a window and also threatened me with dire consequences,” Dr. Buam stated in his complaint.

It may be mentioned that Pohshna recently exposed Dr Buam, who being government doctor allegedly took Rs 250 for treating a child. Moreover, family members of the patient were made to wait for almost 45 minutes by the doctor for treatment.

Amedis Lyngdoh and her husband Chit Suchen, who took their child for treatment to the PHC, said that the allegation leveled by Dr Buam against the engineer was baseless
