Subroto Mukherjee Cup football kicks off in South West Khasi Hills

SHILLONG: Ten matches were scheduled on the first day of the South West Khasi Hills District Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament, which began on Thursday in Mawten and Mawlangwir.

In the U-14 boys category, Sakwang Pres Sec School beat Mariam UP School 1-0 and Rising UP School beat Mawten Sec School 2-0.

Nativity Hr Sec School played out a 0-0 draw with Mawrap UP School and Maharam Govt Sec School received a walkover from Little Star Sec School.

In the U-17 boys competition, Presbyterian Sec School Mawlangwir defeated Rangthong Ch Hr Sec School 4-0 in the highest scoring match of the day.

Balang Mawlangwir Hr Sec School beat United National Sec School Photjaud 1-0, while Sakwang Pres Sec School defeated Maharam Govt Sec School and Nativity Hr Sec School beat JKRP Sec School. Both matches saw the victors win 2-0.

There were also two girls U-17 matches, which saw Jakrem Sec School get the better of Sakwang Pres Sec School 1-0, while Nativity Hr Sec School defeated Maharam Govt Sec School by the same margin.
