Agartala: Turning down the plea of handing over the case of triple murder case in broad daylight last month at Dainik Ganadoot, a vernacular daily of Tripura to CBI, state police claimed investigation is proceeding well by the experienced officers.

A few hours after the letter of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Sudip Roy Barman on Saturday to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar reiterating the demand for allowing CBI enquiry into the triple murder inside Ganadoot Bhawan, police in a statement claimed the investigation was on right track.

The statement said, “IGP (Law & Order) Rajib Singh and DIG (Range) Sourav Tripathi are personally investigating the case and both of them are widely experienced in working with CBI and hopefully they will be able to draw the conclusion soon.”

Clarifying the blame that police could not make any headway into the case in past a month, the statement claimed police had already achieved success in investigation and two prime accused of the case editor and proprietor of the newspaper Sushil Choudhury and Niyati Ghosh, wife of the slain driver of the editor were in jail.

Meanwhile, Congress demanded CBI probe into the murders alleging: “There is interference from certain quarters in the Police enquiry. A few have been arrested but the Police have failed to crack the mystery.”

The party had also staged protests across the state against the reluctant approach of left front government and the Police in solving the case. (UNI)
