JOWAI: Khliehriat Police in East Jaintia Hills District arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in kidnapping a barber and demands of Rs 10 lakh as ransom for his safe release.
The arrested persons have been identified as Rimi Nongtdu, Justine Sutnga and Seibor Nongtdu all from Ladrymbai and the victim has been identified as Achalal Thakur.
Police sources informed that the trio abducted the barber at around 6 pm on Sunday evening from market area after he closed his shop. Acting on a tip off, Khliehriat Police pushed into action to nab the abductors and at around 8:30 pm on the same evening, they rescued the victim and arrested all three persons.
The arrested persons were remanded to Police custody for further interrogation.
