SHILLONG: Taking queue from the fact that migrant labourers left Garo Hills based on the advisory of the State Government, the State BJP unit on Thursday accused the State Government of failing to provide security to minorities as well as the indigenous people in the State.

BJP General Secretary Dipayan Chakraborty said that the law and order situation in Garo Hills has gone from bad to worse since the MUA II came to power in the State. He said that it was the responsibility of the State Government to provide security to the people of the State.

Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India (CPI) in its emergent meeting held here recently expressed concern over the prevailing law and order situation in Garo Hills.

The party has asked the State Government to take steps for rehabilitating affected persons.
