Jakrem, Sakwang to clash for title

 SHILLONG: Jakrem Secondary School defeated Maharam Govt. Secondary School 3-0 to set up a final clash with Sakwang Presbyterian Secondary School who got the better of Nativity HS School by a solitary goal in the Under-17 (Girls) semi-final matches of the South West Khasi Hills district-level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2013.

In the boys section of the Under-17 category, Jakrem Secondary School defeated Mawlangwir Presbyterian Secondary School 2-0 via tie-breaker after the regulation time ended on a 0-0 stalemate in the first semi-final.

In the other semi-final, Jingaiti Secondary School outclassed Sakwang Presbyterian Secondary School, Nongkhyllam 5-0.

In the Under-14 (Boys) category, Sakwang Presbyterian Secondary School got the better of Rising U.P. School 2-0, while in the second semi-final clash Nativity H.S. School defeated Maharam Secondary School by an identical margin.

The final matches in the three categories would be played on Saturday.

In West Khasi Hills, several matches of the district-level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament, 2013, were played on Thursday.

In the matches played in the Under-14 category (Boys), Fellowship Secondary School edged past Sibsingh Government H.S. School 1-0; Mawsura RC U.P. School defeated Mawthungkper U.P. School 2-0; St. Peter’s H.S. School got the better of Don Bosco Secondary School 2-0, while Littlestar English Medium School defeated Nongthliew Secondary School 2-1.

In the matches played in the Under-17 category (Boys), United Christian Secondary School and BBC Secondary School played out a 1-1 draw while in the second match Ri-Lyngngam Secondary School defeated St. Francis Secondary School 1-0.

In the Under-17 (Girls) category, Lurmangkara U.P. School defeated Sibsingh Govt. H.S. School 2-0; Gatphoh Secondary School mauled St. Francis Secondary School 7-0; United Christian Secondary School played out a tame draw with Don Bosco Secondary School 0-0 while BBC Secondary School edged past New Nongstoin Secondary School 1-0.
