 NONGPOH: The District Magistrate, Ri Bhoi District on Thursday, imposed a Section 144 at Pillingkata, Maikhuli, Barapathar, Umtyrnga and Byrnihat to temporarily ban any quarrying, blasting activities within and around these areas.

This order has been enforced in order to prevent any outbreak of law and order in view of the ethnic clashes that has erupted in Garo Hills.
