NONGSTOIN: Headmen and secretaries of 10 polling stations have shot off a letter to the Chief Executive Member of the KHADC to include them under Nongstoin AC for the upcoming KHADC polls.

The ten polling stations are Mawkynbat, Mawlangkhar, Umsaw, Shohphria, Khyllem- Tihsaw, Mawkaton, Laitkseh, Langlew and Marngor. These polling stations have 31 villages under them.

In the previous MDC election, these polling stations were under Nongstoin, Pariong and Rambrai- Jyrngam ACs. During the Assembly Elections earlier this year, all these polling stations were under Nongstoin AC.

To justify their demand they mentioned that the distance to their ACs was the main reason for the proposed merger. While Rambrai-Jyrngam is very far from all these villages and has no road connectivity, Pariong neither has a proper market nor an office that can address the people’s grievances.

The disgruntled members of the villages mailed a letter to the CEM demanding their inclusion to Nongstoin AC as it was the centre for all the villages. They also added that if their demands were not met with they would boycott the upcoming MDC election.
