CM to visit Garo Hills today

TURA: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma is arriving in Garo Hills on Tuesday to review the law and order situation in the affected areas of West and South West Garo Hills districts.

The Chief Minister, who is coming by a special chopper, will touch down at Ampati first where he is scheduled to discuss the situation with district officials and also meet Nokma, senior citizens, village elders and community leaders.

He will also review the law and order scenario.

Dr Sangma will then head to Tura for a similar meeting to take stock of the situation prevailing in the Garo Hills and suggest ways and means to ensure peace prevails and normalcy is returned at the earliest.

The Chief Minister had been keeping a close watch of the situation and regularly issuing instructions to the district officials to check possible outbreak of violence. Strict instructions were also given to authorities to check anti-social elements and rumour mongering.
