SHILLONG: The Joint Action Committee, NEHU has condemned the attempts of some anonymous Professors in NEHU to malign the name of JAC.

It may be mentioned that some senior professors had gone hammer and tongs against the JAC and accused them of taking NEHU to a new low.

In a statement issued here on Monday, JAC Spokesperson SB Prasad demanded an apology from anonymous Professors for tarnishing the image of the JAC.

According to Prasad, the mandate for JAC is to take up the matters related to HASA, and JAC activities have been confined to it.

“JAC has been fighting for the due rights of the employees of NEHU against Statutory violations of NEHU Act, Statutes and Ordinances,” statement added. Some faculty were of the view that JAC is quick to point out the misdemeanors of past and present Vice Chancellors and to level allegations of corruption that are largely unsubstantiated but they do not keep a tab on faculty members (teaching staff) who shirk from their duties and do not fulfill even their minimum teaching commitments.

However, SB Prasad said that the allegations are baseless, groundless with ulterior motives and their vested personal interest even as he challenged the hiding professors to come out openly for a debate on the activities of JAC.
